WageTempo Privacy Policy
Last updated:
WageTempo is operated by Chase Ashby. This Privacy Policy explains how WageTempo for iOS, including its widgets, Live Activity, subscriptions, and any separately invited TestFlight testing, handles information.
Summary
WageTempo is a local-first app. The pay, schedule, shift, history, and settings information you enter is stored on your device. WageTempo has no app account, advertising SDK, behavioral analytics SDK, bank connection, or payroll login, and the app does not connect to a developer-operated application service. WageTempo does not automatically send your wages, schedule, shifts, history, tax settings, deductions, paycheck records, or diagnostic reports to us.
The app also contacts Apple's App Store (StoreKit) to load Pro prices and check subscription status; this does not send your pay records to us. Information can leave your device when you deliberately export or share it, submit TestFlight feedback, contact us, or use an operating-system or storage-provider feature such as device backup. Those cases are explained below.
Information stored on your device
Depending on the features you use, WageTempo can store:
- optional profile, employer, income-source, and other user-entered labels or notes;
- hourly rate or salary, currency, pay cadence, overtime rules, schedules, breaks, and shift history;
- take-home estimation choices and tax-related inputs;
- deductions, non-cash benefits, and employer-contribution settings;
- actual-paycheck and calibration entries, saved projections, and reconciliation history;
- privacy, app-lock, widget, Live Activity, notification, and display preferences; and
- app schema, migration, acknowledgement, and setup-continuity metadata needed to preserve your records across updates.
This information is used on your device to calculate and display earnings estimates, maintain history, restore app state, and provide the features you select. WageTempo does not transmit it to a server controlled by us.
WageTempo has no dedicated field for, and does not intentionally ask you to enter, a Social Security number, bank-account credentials, payroll-service password, full date of birth, or full home address. Do not put that information in an optional name, label, or notes field; text you choose to enter there is stored locally and is included in a full backup you export.
WageTempo does not request access to your contacts, photo library, precise location, HealthKit data, or advertising identifier. It does not request medical records or scan or upload paystubs. If you choose, you can locally enter benefit or deduction categories and amounts—including health-insurance, HSA, FSA, disability, medical, or dental items—for paycheck estimation.
Widgets, Live Activities, and the App Group
WageTempo uses an Apple App Group so the main app, widgets, Live Activity, and related App Intents can share a scoped current snapshot needed to show the feature you selected. The snapshot can include current and projected earnings or rates, paid and break time, status, progress, work-period boundaries and timestamps, an internal shift identifier, calculation and rule-version metadata, employer-contribution and tracking-source fields, privacy/display settings, and an employer label only when you have not chosen to hide it.
The shared snapshot does not contain your full schedule, full shift history, tax profile, paystub details, deduction list, paycheck or reconciliation records, bank information, payroll credentials, Social Security number, or date of birth. App Group sharing is local communication among WageTempo components signed for the same App Group; it is not a disclosure to an advertising or analytics company.
Apple controls when widgets and Live Activities refresh and how their content appears on system surfaces.
Permissions and Apple system services
WageTempo uses Apple's StoreKit to check subscription information as described below. It may also use the following Apple-provided services when you choose the related feature:
- Notifications: WageTempo requests permission only after an in-app explanation and schedules selected reminders locally. You can change notification permission in iOS Settings.
- Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode: Optional App Lock asks iOS to authenticate the device owner. Apple performs the authentication. WageTempo does not receive or store your biometric template or device passcode.
- Widgets and Live Activities: iOS presents the privacy-controlled local snapshot described above.
- Subscriptions: Apple provides StoreKit, purchase authentication, and subscription billing as described below.
WageTempo does not include a third-party advertising, tracking, or analytics SDK. Its code does not automatically upload usage events or diagnostics to us. Apple may process device, App Store, and TestFlight information under your Apple settings and Apple's own privacy terms.
Subscriptions and purchases
WageTempo Pro uses Apple's App Store and StoreKit. Apple processes purchases, payment authentication, and subscription billing under Apple's privacy policy. WageTempo does not receive your payment card details or Apple Account password.
The app requests current Pro prices and subscription status when it opens. It checks status when it returns to the foreground, as Apple reports subscription changes, and periodically while Pro access is active and the app is open. Purchasing, restoring, and managing a subscription also use Apple's services. Apple manages the associated network requests and caches. WageTempo has no developer-operated server that receives receipts or your local pay records.
The app checks verified subscription status on your device. It does not write that status into your payroll document, widget snapshot, or optional diagnostic report. Exported backups may contain setup-continuity records so previously saved setups keep working; those records are not proof of purchase and do not grant a subscription.
Ending a subscription does not delete your stored records. Existing advanced setups remain available and keep calculating; new advanced setups and analyses require active Pro access. Quick Percentage and core tracking stay free.
Backups, imports, diagnostics, and other sharing you initiate
You can deliberately export a versioned JSON backup through the iOS document picker. The backup can contain the WageTempo information stored in your personal workspace. Once you save or share an exported file, the destination you chose—such as Files, iCloud Drive, email, Messages, or another app—controls its storage and retention. WageTempo cannot delete those outside copies for you.
You can deliberately import a compatible backup. WageTempo validates and migrates the file locally before replacing local app state.
You can also ask WageTempo to prepare a privacy-safe diagnostic report. The report is generated locally, shown to you for review, and includes allow-listed app/build, distribution-channel, source-build, iOS, schema, feature-state, and record-count information, plus its generation time. It excludes your name, employer, wage and salary amounts, tax and deduction amounts, schedules, stored shift times, notes, and record identifiers. Nothing is shared unless you choose a destination. The destination's privacy terms apply after you share it.
Your device or Apple account may include app data in operating-system backups according to your iOS and iCloud settings. We do not operate or have access to those backups.
TestFlight and support feedback
If you use Apple's TestFlight feedback tools or contact us, you choose to provide information to Apple and/or to us. Depending on the type of report and your choices, this may include:
- written comments and contact information;
- a screenshot or other content you attach;
- app version and build, device model, iOS version, language, and time-zone context; and
- crash or diagnostic information made available by Apple.
Please remove names, employer details, account numbers, addresses, paystubs, tax forms, exact financial values, and other information that is not necessary to understand the problem.
We use feedback only to receive, deduplicate, classify, investigate, reproduce, repair, and verify product, security, privacy, migration, and calculation issues; to respond to support requests; and to maintain an accurate release record. We do not sell feedback, use it for advertising, or use it to track you across apps or websites.
Apple operates TestFlight and applies its own privacy and retention practices. We may keep restricted evidence for an active investigation and may create a sanitized record in a private issue tracker operated by GitHub. Where practical, that record replaces tester identity and Apple submission identifiers with opaque references and excludes raw screenshots, unnecessary personal information, secrets, and private pay information. We restrict our access to people working on WageTempo quality and release operations.
We retain identifiable feedback and restricted attachments only as long as reasonably necessary to investigate and verify the issue, protect users and the service, satisfy legal obligations, or resolve a dispute. We may retain a deidentified defect and regression record after direct identifiers and unnecessary attachments are removed.
Data deletion and choices
You control the records stored by WageTempo:
- Start Over removes the personal workspace and returns the app to blank onboarding.
- Delete All Data removes the substantive local app document and creates an empty store, and asks to clear shared widget/command data, end current Live Activities, and cancel pending notifications. It does not reset your system permission choices, delete previously delivered notifications, erase TestFlight submissions, or delete copies stored elsewhere.
- You can disable WageTempo notifications in iOS Settings and change privacy, App Lock, widget, and Live Activity preferences inside the app.
- You can avoid sending TestFlight feedback, diagnostic reports, backups, or support messages.
Deleting the app is controlled by iOS. If you want to use WageTempo's in-app deletion flow, use Settings › Privacy & Data › Delete All Data before deleting the app. Deleting WageTempo does not delete backups or messages you previously saved or shared elsewhere; delete those from the destination where you placed them.
Deleting data or the app does not cancel a WageTempo Pro subscription. Manage or cancel it in your Apple Account subscription settings.
To ask about, access, correct, or delete personal information that you deliberately sent to us, email chase@ashbywebsystems.com. Describe the report or contact you want us to locate without resending sensitive pay information. We may need limited information to verify the request. We cannot retrieve or delete information that remains only on your device or in a third-party account that we do not control.
You may also withdraw permission for us to continue using feedback you deliberately sent by emailing that address. We will honor the request except where retention remains reasonably necessary for security, legal obligations, or a dispute.
Data protection
WageTempo uses iOS file-protection features for its local app document and shared App Group files, writes its records atomically, and limits extension sharing to the current privacy-controlled snapshot. Developer-received feedback is kept in access-controlled systems and is minimized before routine issue work. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so please avoid sharing information that is not needed for support.
Service providers and destinations you choose
The relevant third parties are:
- Apple, which provides iOS, App Store, StoreKit and subscription billing, TestFlight, notifications, Local Authentication, widgets, Live Activities, document sharing, and optional iCloud/device-backup services; and
- GitHub, which may host our access-controlled, sanitized issue records and the public static policy page.
Other apps or services receive WageTempo data only when you choose them as an export or sharing destination. Their privacy policies and security practices apply to information you send to them.
We require service providers handling information on our behalf to use it only for the requested service and to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law.
The public policy page is designed without advertising, analytics, forms, or JavaScript. We do not add tracking cookies or build visitor profiles. The hosting provider may process ordinary connection and security information, such as an IP address or browser details, under its own privacy terms.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy before introducing a materially different data practice, such as an app account, cloud synchronization, payroll or bank integration, remote Live Activity updates, advertising, or analytics. We will change the date above and provide any additional notice or consent required by law.
